Honouring the journalists who sacrificed their lives for truth.
A memorial to honour murdered journalists Ján Kuciak and Daphne Caruana Galizia was revealed in the European Parliament in Brussels. The creator of the work of art is Slovak artist Martin Mjartan. The ceremony was organised by members of the European Parliament - Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová from Slovak Republic and David Casa from Malta.

1964 - 2017
A Maltese activist, blogger and journalist writing about money laundering and corruption in politics. She uncovered secret companies in Panama and New Zealand linked to the highest Maltese politicians. Daphne was popular but also harassed. According to her son, she was intimidated almost on daily basis. In October 2017, half an hour after sending her last article on the corruption of the Chief of staff to the Prime Minister, she died in car explosion.
1990 - 2018
A young investigative journalist specializing in topics like tax evasion, organized crime, EU subsidies and corruption of Slovak oligarchs and politicians. In February 2018, Jan and his fiancée Martina were shot dead in their house. Their murder sparked the biggest mass protests in Slovakia since the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Due to public pressure, the Ministry of interior Róbert Kaliňák and the Prime Minister Róbert Fico resigned. The trial in the case of their murder is still ongoing.
